LAS BALSAS RELAIS & CHATEAUX
Las Balsas becomes in a sense of home-coming, with warm and a welcoming staff ready to serve, combining an exquisite signature cuisine, together with the possibility of enjoying one of the most complete and sophisticated spa centre of the region.
Imagination has borders limited by our experiences. So when you come to Las Balsas, you'll find a wonderful reality, which surpasses all your fantasies, full of stimuli, pleasures and emotions.
Freedom and warmth, friendliness and personal attention, everything is prepared to offer an unforgettable stay, whether for business or pleasure.
Surrounded by eternal snow mountains, natural forests and the deep blue of Lake Nahuel Huapi, Las Balsas combines the concept of a luxury hotel in a setting of unparalleled natural beauty offering one of the most beautiful landscapes in Patagonia.
Las Balsas opened its doors in 1990 and since 1995 has been a member of the chain Relais Chateaux, an Association that was established in 1954 and gathers 450 luxury hotels around the world. Las Balsas was the first Relais & Chateaux in Argentina and South America to receive the "Welcome Trophy" award, in recognition for excellent service. This award is a distinction for its staff, for accomplishing the five "C" that the group asks of its members: courtesy, charm, character, cuisine, and calmness.
Las Balsas has a special magnetism, which transforms the experience beyond what is imaginable.
The lodge presents 12 rooms and 3 suites. Each has been decorated according to its own identity, paying careful attention to every detail. It seems almost impossible not to be hypnotized by the imagery of the lake, the forests and the mountains that surround the area.
Under the principle of "Casa Grande" (large house), the common areas of the lodge deserve to be pointed out individually:
The Living Room
The Library
The Bar
The Restaurant
The Wine Cellar
The Pier
The Garden
The Play Room
The Spa
THE LIVING ROOM
The cracking sound of the burning logs in the magnificent fireplace, the fabrics, shapes and textures of its comfortable sofas, the reading areas, the piano, the native wood table inlaid with stone, the background music, the dancing candle light and the view from its window, make the living room in Las Balsas one of the favorite spots among its guests.
THE LIBRARY
Continuing with the living room's guidelines we pass on to the Library, another idyllic spot within the lodge, where you can relax and enjoy the moment and the landscape. Its walls are lined with Raffia and wood, and two wide bookcases of sturdy wood harbor various literary copies available to our guests.
THE BAR
Reminiscent of an English Bar, mainly due to its leather chairs and the engravings on the wall, it is the perfect place to enjoy the wide variety of drinks offered. It is important to point out the Pisco Sour, mixed by our sommelier.
THE RESTAURANTE
The "Gourmand Restaurant" seal with which Las Balsas is distinguished is a guarantee of the quality and exquisiteness of the place. The type of cuisine offered here, in charge of the internationally known chef Pablo Campoy, is known as "signature cuisine" since each dish offered in the menu is the chef's unique creation. They exquisitely involve fresh and regional elements in a perfect combination of colors, flavors, and textures.
Each plate's presentation also deserves a special commendation for its good taste and quality. The French magazine "Cuisine Creative", in one of its issues, acknowledged chef Pablo Campoy as one of the "World's Chefs" representing Argentina. He has managed to impose his Restaurant as a required visit for anyone who is in the region, even those who are not staying in the lodge.
THE WINE CELLAR
As a complement to the Restaurant, Las Balsas has its own wine cellar, with the capacity of sheltering over 2500 bottles of more than 160 wine makers, almost entirely consisting of Argentine labels.
The controlled lighting, temperature and humidity, will allow you to taste the different wine options at their best. It even includes an exclusive area for presentations and wine tasting.
THE PIER
The Pier is a part of the incredible post-card that Las Balsas in Villa La Angostura has to offer. It is one of the many locations provided by the lodge for you to experience the indescribable sensations that are brought about through being in contact with nature and the beauty of the setting.
The Pier serves as a link between land and lake and as a departure point for sailboat or motorboat trips, or simply a canoe outing. A memorable experience to recommend: to take advantage of the sunny noon in Spring and Summer and enjoy a delicious lunch on the pier's deck, by the lake, that still and clear as a mirror, reflects the image of the mountain range with its snowy peaks. The lodge blends in as a perfect complement for the setting.
THE GARDEN
The green mantel that surrounds the lodge falls like a rug onto the waters of the lake; it shows nature in balance and contributes yet another element for you to enjoy the setting and the environment.
THE PLAYROOM
Those who wish to keep in touch with the outside world can make use of the Playroom with its T.V. and selection of videos, use the computer with free Internet access, or the stereo system.
You also have at your disposal: board games, magazines, newspapers, and everything you need for your entertainment.
THE SPA
The Spa completes the pampering agenda that this Relais & Chateaux in Villa La Angostura proposes on the shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi. It already accomplished its goal with its decoration, view, comfort and its cuisine, now it completes the plan with its physical treatments.
The building made from wood and stone enjoys the same privileged view, so characteristic of the lodge. Just upon entering, the music from the water invites you in for a swim in the heated pool, which at first sight, appears to be part of the lake.
The Spa also includes a sauna, Jacuzzi, Scottish baths and a variety of exercise equipment so that you can stay in shape.
Then you will find the massage lounge, built with a very high ceiling and a circular design, almost like a sanctuary. Here the lighting is dim and the air smells of scented oils.
On a large tatami placed in the center, you may choose to benefit from, either, a Shiatsu, Thai, or an Ayurvedic massage, or decide on lymph drainage. We also count with specialists on techniques that are less practiced like Watsu, or Jahara, that are carried out under water and accomplish a deep state of relaxation.
We also offer massages with hot stone and oils that work on specific stressed points. You can also enjoy a facial or body wrap with seaweed, fango (mineral mud mixture), or clay and the highly effective products.
